Dr. Elizabeth Miller

Deputy Dean, MetFilm School

Dr Elizabeth Miller is passionate about the transformative power of higher education. As Deputy Dean she leads on teaching, learning, and assessment for MetFilm School working closely with programme teams and other staff to ensure students have the best experience possible by championing academic review and enhancement processes and supporting the staff delivering our programmes.

Elizabeth has worked in higher education institutions in the UK, Australia, and Cambodia as a tutor/lecturer and as a senior manager. Elizabeth gained her PhD from the University of Sydney and taught there and at other Australian universities. She then moved to Cambodia where she worked in a capacity building role developing academic staff at a regional university. Her growing interest in higher education led her to the University of Oxford where she completed her MSc Education (Higher Education).

Previously the Deputy Dean of Pearson Business School, Elizabeth is also a higher education researcher. Her research explores the links between higher education and work, with a focus on work integrated/based learning, knowledge exchange, reflective and problem-based learning, authentic assessment, and academic identity and labour. Elizabeth is currently also the co-chair of Independent Higher Education’s Access and Participation network.

Outside of her work, Elizabeth loves travelling, rowing, and reading, although has limited time to do these things as she spends a lot of time chasing her surprisingly fast toddler around.
