What is Clearing?

What is Clearing?

Clearing is the process UCAS uses to fill remaining course places. For September 2027 entry, you can apply through Clearing from Friday 2 July 2027 if you:

  • Didn’t receive any offers, or don’t want to accept the one you have
  • Didn’t meet the conditions of your offer
  • Declined your place through UCAS Hub
  • Are applying after the main application cycle has closed

Clearing couldn’t be easier, simply make sure you have this information:

  • Your exam results
  • Your UCAS ID (if you have one)
  • The name of the course you are interested in and its code – you can find this information below

If you already have your exam results and haven’t applied through UCAS, you can use Clearing from Friday 2 July 2027.

If you’re still waiting on results, check your UCAS Hub on Results Day, Thursday 12 August 2027. If you’re eligible for Clearing, an “Add a Clearing choice” button will appear. Our Clearing hotline will be ready to help you take the next step.
