The creative partnership between MetFilm School and MetStudios

By MetStudios

29 July 2025

In 2024, we turned a bold new page in creative education with the launch of MetStudios, a sister school to MetFilm School, purpose-built to explore the future of storytelling across video games, animation, virtual production, and digital content.

But what does this partnership mean for you, as a prospective student or emerging creative?

It means more than just a broader list of courses. It signals the beginning of a cross-campus ecosystem, where filmmakers, animators, designers, and developers collaborate to build the future of entertainment together.

With MetFilm School’s decades-long legacy in screen education and MetStudios’ forward-facing focus on interactive media, students now gain the best of both worlds. Whether you’re learning to build narrative-driven video games, design cinematic universes in 3D, or bring characters to life through animation, you’ll be surrounded by fellow creatives honing their craft across disciplines.

Storytelling across screens

Think of titles like The Last of Us – a franchise that started as a video game and was then adapted into a smash hit TV series. This isn’t just a trend; it’s the new norm. From Arcane to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, some of the most innovative storytelling now emerges at the intersection of video games and film.

At MetFilm School and MetStudios, you’ll be learning within a creative pipeline that mirrors this very process. Games students can collaborate with screenwriters to design rich, narrative-driven experiences. Animation students might partner with film students to produce animated shorts, trailers, or even in-game cinematics. Motion capture projects could see actors from film courses working alongside games designers in our virtual production suites.

Your story starts here

Whether you’re enrolling in one of MetStudios’ future-focused BA (Hons) degrees in Games Art and Technology, Games Design and Development, or Animation, or joining a course at MetFilm School, your learning experience will be deeply collaborative. The lines between disciplines are intentionally blurred, because that’s how the industry works.

Want to design a game with emotionally-driven characters? Work with directing students on capturing realistic performances. Looking to create cinematic trailers? Partner with editors and cinematographers to give your work that final polish. These aren’t one-off opportunities – they’re part of the everyday culture across our campuses in Berlin, Brighton, Bristol, Leeds, London, and Manchester.

With industry-led teaching, student collaboration, and the combined strength of MetFilm School and MetStudios behind you, you’re not just studying for a creative career, you’re already living it.
