The Part-Time Acting for Film (20-Week) gives students the opportunity to take part in several exercises filmed by a professional crew and edited by a professional editor. Students will examine how to get the most out of rehearsals, explore the casting process and become familiar with the filmmaking process.

The Part-Time Acting for Film (20-Week) is designed to improve the understanding, knowledge, and practice in the following core areas:

  • The broad areas of work available for an actor
  • The core techniques in demand within the fast-evolving media industry
  • Industry practice through hands-on exercises
  • How to analyse a script to enrich and deepen your performance
  • Develop your understanding of the technical skills relevant to screen acting
  • How to improve your confidence performing in front of the camera
  • On set practices and the relationship with the crew
  • How physicality and voice inform screen acting

The following list is an overview of the topics and themes covered in Part-Time Acting for Film. For more information, please download the course outline below.

Address what subtext is and how it influences a performance will enhance a student’s understanding of performance tools and obstacles.

Students will address how to break down a scene into story beats.

Students examine how to get the most from rehearsals and be able to put into practice techniques such as improvisation, speaking out an interior monologue and rehearsing the script beat by beat.

Students learn about the filmmaking process to understand its stages in broad terms. You will also learn the names and functions of all principal crew members.

Students examine the casting process and how to prepare for an audition.

Students will take part in several filmed exercises.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

Minimum Age: 18 at the start of the course.

This course is open enrolment and there are no entry requirements.

In order to get the most out of the course, you should be able to both speak and write in English to a reasonable standard.

Please be aware that we have a limited number of places available for each course intake and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Duration: 20 learning weeks, Part-Time, delivered over 22 weeks, Wednesdays 7-10pm & Alternate Saturdays.
  • Location: MetFilm School Campus at Ealing Studios.
