Sebastian Hakim

Seb Hakim is a Director of Photography, filmmaker and founder of Hakim Film Co, a Manchester based production company creating documentary led brand films, commercials and cinematic storytelling for organisations across the UK and internationally.

Seb’s work focuses on uncovering authentic human stories and combining documentary filmmaking techniques with the creative demands of commercial production. He he has worked with clients including the BBC, Porsche, Qatar Airways, Premier League football clubs, Chester Zoo and Vivobarefoot, creating films that explore the people, purpose and ideas behind the brands and organisations he collaborates with.

His experience spans documentary, music video, automotive, travel, commercials and purpose-led filmmaking, with productions taking him across the UK and internationally. Seb’s approach is rooted in strong visual storytelling, collaboration and creating meaningful films that connect with audiences.

Alongside his professional practice, Seb is passionate about developing the next generation of filmmakers. His teaching focuses on cinematography, camera craft, documentary filmmaking and visual storytelling, helping students understand both the creative and practical realities of working in the screen industries.

Seb believes that great filmmaking comes from combining technical skill with curiosity, empathy and a strong understanding of the audience. Through his teaching, he encourages students to experiment, develop their creative voice and build the confidence needed to pursue careers in film.
