Directing Courses

Do you have a story to tell? Our directing courses are perfect for you. Being a director means you have the creative vision and the technical and managerial skills to implement your vision dynamically.  Where better to learn the craft than at Met Film School?

Directing at Met Film will teach you how to put theory into practice. Learn the language, visualise a script and practice the craft. Learn from tutors who have honed their skills in the film and television industries, and reinforce that learning from masterclasses with world renowned directors – such as David Yates (Harry Potter films) and Stephen Frears (Bugsy Malone, The Killing Fields).

Directing at Met Film School will equip you with the essential skills for a successful career in directing for film, television or screen more generally, and for other roles in the industry. Have a look at what some of our graduates have gone on to do. BA (Hons) Practical filmmaking graduate, Anirudh Ganapathy has gone on to become a 1st Assistant Director and has been working on the comedy film Bobby Jasoos and Tanu Weds Manu Return (click here to read more).

Other BA (Hons) Practical Filmmaking graduates have also gone on to work as Directors within different mediums.  Guy Natanel has recently released his latest feature documentary The King Of Nerac, which was screened at NYJFF in New York, as well as receiving a lot of critical acclaims (read an article in Variety here.)

Students from our short courses in filmmaking are also enjoying success.  Shortly after graduating from our Part-Time Filmmaking course, Marcus Markou wrote, directed and produced his first feature film, Papadopoulos & Sons.  He released it in the UK himself in April 2013, with it grossing £40K in its opening weekend and has recently been acquired by the BBC.  Find out more here.

Chika Anadu is a graduate of our Four-Week Filmmaking short course and has achieved phenomenal success with her debut feature film B for Boy, which has it’s world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in 2013, and has since gone on to win Best Film in an African Language at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2014.  Watch the trailer for the film here.

All of our tutors are working industry professionals who are dedicated to training and educating the next generation of screen creatives.  Find out more about their background and experience here.
