Choosing a university is a massive decision and as a parent or guardian, you want to be sure your child is in good hands. At MetFilm School, we understand that supporting a future filmmaker, screenwriter, or content creator often raises several vital questions. Below, we’ve answered some of the most common ones to help you feel informed and confident about what lies ahead.
What kind of careers do MetFilm School graduates go into?
Our graduates work across the screen industries, from film and TV production to digital content, branded video, editing, screenwriting, animation, and more. Many go on to become directors, producers, cinematographers, editors, or launch their own creative companies. The practical nature of our courses means students leave with industry experience, and a strong creative portfolio.
Is there job security in film and television?
Like many creative industries, film and TV can be competitive, but it’s also full of opportunity. The UK screen sector is booming, with ongoing demand for skilled creatives and technicians across streaming, advertising, and digital media. Our courses are designed to prepare students for the realities of the industry, with a focus on employability, freelancing, and building a sustainable career.
How does MetFilm School support students in finding work?
We have a dedicated Creative Futures team offering 1:1 career coaching, CV and portfolio support, and access to job opportunities. Students also benefit from regular industry masterclasses, networking events, and real-world briefs. Many work on professional projects during their studies, and our industry connections often lead to internships, freelance work, or employment after graduation.
What qualifications do students receive?
Our undergraduate and postgraduate courses are validated by BIMM University. That means students graduate with a recognised academic degree while gaining hands-on, industry-led training that sets them apart in a competitive market.
What’s student life like at MetFilm School?
We have campuses in London (based at the iconic Ealing Studios), Brighton, Bristol, Birmingham, Berlin, Leeds, and Manchester — all vibrant cities with a strong creative and cultural scene. Classes are collaborative and practical, and students often work closely with peers across other disciplines. Beyond the classroom, we host student screenings, networking socials, masterclasses and guest lectures.
How does the school look after students’ wellbeing?
Student wellbeing is a top priority. We offer a range of support services, including mental health resources, academic support, counselling, and disability services. Our small class sizes also mean tutors get to know students well, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Will my child need expensive equipment?
We provide professional filming equipment, editing suites, and studio space as part of the course. Students may need their own laptops and external hard drives, but they don’t need to purchase cameras or other major gear unless they want to invest further in their practice.
Can I visit the school before my child decides to enrol?
Absolutely. We run Open Days and Taster Days throughout the year, where parents are more than welcome. You’ll be able to explore our facilities, meet tutors and students, and get a real feel for life at MetFilm School.
What financial support is available?
Students can apply for government student loans if eligible. We also offer a range of scholarships and bursaries, including support for underrepresented groups. Our Admissions Team is happy to talk through funding options with you and your child.
What makes MetFilm School different from other film schools?
We’re based in active working studios, our tutors are all industry professionals, and we believe in learning by doing. From day one, students are making content, collaborating on projects, and learning how the industry really works. It’s a practical, intensive, and creatively empowering education — one that prepares students to step confidently into their future. We also have state-of-the-art facilities, with our London campus based in Ealing Studios, the UKs first film and TV studio, and our Brighton campus boasting a 11,000 square feet film studio.
