Keely Pickard earns first high-end TV credit on Pushers

By MetFilm School

11 July 2025

We’re proud to celebrate the success of Keely Pickard, a graduate of MetFilm School Manchester, who has earned her first high-end television credit as a Camera Trainee on Pushers—a gritty new drama series.

Keely spent two months working across the main and second units of the production, contributing to numerous camera days and gaining invaluable on-set experience. Reflecting on the opportunity, she credits her time at MetFilm School for equipping her with the confidence and understanding needed to thrive on a professional set.

“My degree helped me massively on this shoot, understanding the various roles of other departments and the overall flow of a shoot day,” she said. “I also worked on a variety of short films outside of my studies, which provided me with the skills and knowledge required in camera assisting roles.”

Keely’s journey to the Pushers set began with a Crew Manchester listing, where she showcased her work through a CV, showreel, and behind-the-scenes stills created during her time at MetFilm School.

“This is the only job I’ve ever gotten through a CV and it felt like a big achievement,” she added. “I had never met anyone from the production team or camera department before, so getting a job offer solely through displaying my work and experience felt incredibly fulfilling.”

One of the most surreal moments for Keely was seeing her name in the credits for the first time:

“Having a credit on a high-end TV show feels very surreal. I’d always hoped to have my name come up on a TV screen one day, so seeing it in reality is a bizarre but fulfilling experience.”

She also highlighted the positive impact of working with an access coordinator during the shoot, noting that it brought a stronger sense of personal wellbeing to what was, at times, a demanding schedule.

Since graduating, Keely has been freelancing as a Camera Assistant—primarily as a 2nd AC—across a range of productions including short films, features, television, commercials, and music videos. She has also taken on DoP roles, collaborating with fellow graduates and emerging creatives.

“Overall, I’m just continuing to take every opportunity provided to me and fulfilling a job that rarely feels like ‘going to work.’”

Congratulations to Keely on this exciting milestone—we can’t wait to see what’s next.”
