At MetFilm School, we believe the best way to learn filmmaking is by doing it. Our BA (Hons) Practical Filmmaking (2-Year Accelerated) degree offers a fast-track route into the screen industries, combining creative storytelling with hands-on production experience at every stage of the process.
This week marks the start of our filmmaking focus – shining a light on the skills and opportunities that come with being behind the camera. Whether you want to direct, produce, edit, or take on a hybrid creative role, this course builds the foundation for a career in film, television, or digital media.
Focus on filmmaking
Delivered from our London campus at the world-famous Ealing Studios, this accelerated degree condenses three years of training into two, offering an intensive, immersive experience.
Students learn every stage of the filmmaking process – from development and pre-production to filming and post – working with professional-grade equipment and collaborating on live briefs, short films, and creative projects throughout the year.
Every semester is designed around production. Students create, shoot, and deliver multiple projects across genres, developing both technical skill and creative voice. The aim is simple: to prepare graduates who can confidently step into a professional set environment from day one.
Learn from industry professionals
MetFilm School tutors are active filmmakers, producers, cinematographers, and editors, bringing their current industry experience directly into the classroom.
Through workshops, screenings, and practical exercises, students gain a real understanding of what it takes to work in today’s screen industries – and how to find their place within them.
“We offer courses that are filmmaking workshops, not just a classroom. The best part is watching confidence build as students transform ideas into finished work, learning the craft by doing it every day.”
Collaboration and creativity
Filmmaking at MetFilm School is a collaborative art form. Students work alongside peers from Acting, Production Design, and Hair & Make-Up courses, gaining a rounded understanding of every creative department.
The environment at Ealing Studios – where major productions have been made for nearly a century – adds another layer of inspiration. Being surrounded by working industry professionals allows students to see their classroom learning reflected in real film and TV productions happening just next door.
Graduate success stories
Former MetFilm School student Hayder Rothschild Hoozeer has recently won a BAFTA for producing the acclaimed short film Rock Paper Scissors. After completing the BA Practical Filmmaking course at MetFilm School London, Hayder went on to study at the National Film and Television School (NFTS), where he produced the film as his graduation project.
In his moving BAFTA acceptance speech, Hayder dedicated the award “to the dreamers who find escapism in cinema,” reflecting his belief in storytelling’s power to transform lives. Drawing on his own experiences of hardship, he founded WHO’S HERE? PRODUCTIONS, a company devoted to creating hopeful, emotionally resonant stories with cinematic ambition. He is now developing a slate of feature film and television projects that continue this mission.

If you’re ready to bring stories to life and want to graduate industry-ready in just two years, BA (Hons) Practical Filmmaking (2-Year Accelerated) offers a fast, focused route into the heart of the screen industries.
