This week, we’re shining a spotlight on filmmaking; the collaborative, hands-on art form at the heart of MetFilm School. Whether you’re drawn to directing, cinematography, screenwriting, sound, or post-production, this degree gives you the space to explore your interests and develop your unique creative voice.
Focus on filmmaking
Delivered from our Berlin, Birmingham, Brighton, London, Manchester campuses, the BA (Hons) Filmmaking course places you at the centre of a professional production environment from day one. You’ll gain practical experience across a range of formats and genres – from short narratives and documentaries to experimental and music videos – building your portfolio as you go.
Each year of study is structured to progressively develop your technical and creative skillset. You’ll learn using industry-standard equipment, from Canon 6D and RED Raven cameras to Panavision and Arriflex film cameras shooting on 8mm, Super 16mm, and 35mm film. Every project is an opportunity to experiment, collaborate, and bring your stories to life on screen.
Learn from industry professionals
Our lecturers are active filmmakers, producers, cinematographers, and editors who bring practical experience into the classroom. Through workshops, masterclasses, and live briefs, you’ll gain an authentic understanding of what it means to work in today’s screen industries – and how to carve your own path within them.
The course also provides access to guest lectures, networking opportunities, and work placements, helping you build industry connections that will support your career long after graduation.
