Apply via UCAS

Apply via UCAS

Please find below the essential information for UCAS applications for our UK undergraduate courses.

If you need further information to aid your application, contact our Admissions Team by phone at +44 20 88321933, by filling out our application enquiry form, or by email at admissions@metfilm.ac.uk.

As part of your UCAS application, applicants will need to supply the following information:

  • Personal details
  • Details of their chosen MetFilm School programme
  • Education and employment history
  • A personal statement
  • Contact details of a reference

UCAS applications must also satisfy the UCAS points for each course, either as predicted grades or as completed qualifications. Find the appropriate UCAS points by clicking on the UCAS links below.

In the event that UCAS applications are not satisfactory, the Admissions Team may request further evidence to support applicant suitability, such as a portfolio of work.

If you’re applying to university for 2026 entry, there are some important changes to the way you’ll write your personal statement. Instead of one long text, UCAS is introducing a new structure: three shorter sections, each with a different question to help you shape your answer.

This new format is designed to give all students the same clear structure and support. Each section has a minimum character count of 350, and the total across all three sections must not exceed 4,000 characters (including spaces). You’ll see helpful character counters and guidance in the UCAS form.

The Three Questions

1. Why do you want to study this course or subject?

This is your chance to show what excites you about the subject you’re applying for.

Think about:

  • Specific areas of the course or industry that interest you
  • Your personal journey and what led you here
  • Where this course could take you in the future
  • Books, blogs, podcasts, or articles you’ve explored
  • Your career aspirations and how this subject fits in

2. How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?

Use this section to reflect on your education so far.

You could include:

  • Relevant subjects, modules, or topics you’ve studied
  • Dance, drama, or performance modules you’ve taken
  • Assignments or projects you’ve enjoyed
  • Independent research or reading you’ve done around the subject
  • Skills you’ve developed through coursework or exams

3. What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful?

Here’s where you can show the bigger picture – your experience beyond the classroom.

For example:

  • Work experience or volunteering
  • Creative or personal projects
  • Clubs, societies, or extracurricular activities
  • Travel, languages, and leadership roles
  • Challenges you’ve overcome or goals you’ve worked towards

What not to Include

Keep it honest, relevant and clear. Make sure you answer each question properly and use your own voice. Write a first draft in a separate document so you can plan, edit and proofread it before you add it to your application.

Check your spelling and grammar – and don’t be afraid to ask someone you trust to check your work before you submit it.

Top tips

Please don’t include any information about support or access requirements in your personal statement. There’s a dedicated section on the UCAS form for this, which ensures the right support teams at BIMM University can help you.

Keep informed of the UCAS key dates and deadlines and make sure you submit your application in plenty of time, that way you can sit back, relax and look forward to joining MetFilm School.

View the ‘UCAS dates and deadlines’ here.

5th September: UCAS Applications Open

Completed applications can be submitted through UCAS.

29th January: UCAS Equal Consideration Deadline

If you are applying via UCAS, we strongly recommend that you submit your application by this date. If you apply after 29th January, we cannot guarantee your application will have equal consideration to earlier applicants, as the majority of our places are allocated by this point.

If you apply after 29th January, your application will fall into the below options:

26th February: UCAS Extra Opens

If you’ve used all five of your UCAS choices, but you’re not yet holding any offers, you might be able to add another choice.

30th June: Final Pre-Clearing Applications

Applications submitted to UCAS after 6pm on 30th June will be automatically entered into Clearing.

5th July: Clearing Opens

We occasionally have a few places available during Clearing due to student withdrawals. It is always worth getting in touch with our Admissions Team to find out more.

UK Visa Information

UK Visa Information

All students who are coming from outside of the UK, including the EU and European Economic Area (EEA), will require a visa via the Student Route to study an undergraduate programme at London or Leeds.

Please find the key information on the visa process below:

If you are coming to the UK for a full degree course (BA or MA), or a course of study lasting longer than six months, you must apply for a visa via the Student Route. You can use apply for your visa up to six months before the course start date.

The Student Route allows for the following:

  • The ability to work up to 20 hours per week during term-time, and full-time during vacations (for degree level and above).
  • Students who are sponsored by MetFilm School and have finished their course can be immediately enrolled onto a new degree level or above course, providing their leave has not yet expired, and that academic progression requirements are met.
  • Upon graduation, students are eligible to apply for a one-time non-extendable leave period of two years that does not require sponsorship. This is known as the Graduate Route.

To apply for a visa via the Student Route, you will need:

  • A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
  • A CAS number issued by MetFilm School (your Admissions Manager will speak to you about this if your application is successful)
  • Documents as listed on your CAS
  • Evidence of your English language ability: you will need to demonstrate a B2 English Level, which is upper-intermediate.

Please find our English Language Requirements here.

In order to be issued a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS Number) needed to apply for a visa via the Student Route, you will need to have paid the full course fee.

You should start preparing your documentation and funds to support your visa application as soon as your place at MetFilm School is confirmed. You should then submit your application up to six months prior to the course start date to ensure your application is successful.

To apply for a visa, you will need to demonstrate that you have enough money to support yourself, including accommodation and living costs.

For more information on the CAS requirements, please visit our Immigration advice and support page here.

You must show that you have held the required money for a consecutive 28-day period (finishing on the date of the closing balance), ending no more than 31 days before the date of your application.

MetFilm School will require proof of the maintenance/funds available to you before we can issue you a CAS.

The Selection Process

Once you have submitted your application, a member of the Admissions Team will be in touch to discuss next steps. If successful, the applicant will be contacted to arrange a formal interview, which can be conducted in person or online.

MetFilm School will then let applicants know their enrolment decision within an appropriate time frame.

If you are accepted, you will be given an offer either directly from our Admissions Team, or via UCAS (depending on how you have applied). It is then your responsibility to accept this offer at your preferred institution.

Applicants that are accepted onto the Undergraduate programme will then be obliged to complete their enrolment. To do so, applicants need to ensure they’ve paid their deposit & tuition fees. Further details will be sent to you in your offer email.
