Pete Shuttleworth
MA Mentor, MetFilm School Brighton
Pete grew up directing theatre productions and then short films. He completed a foundation degree in Art at London College of Printing, followed by Fine Art Textiles at Goldsmiths, and entered the film industry as a runner for Mike Leigh on the Cannes-winning film Naked.
After serving as a production assistant for a commercials company, Pete collaborated with a young director to make his breakthrough films, which were then sold to Levis and Greenpeace. This project resulted in them both being head-hunted by Ridley Scott Associates, where Pete became a producer for four years. At RSA, Pete created commercials, documentaries and music videos, before leaving to set up his own Digital Production Company, Pretzel. For five consecutive years, Pretzel was voted the UK’s second most successful corporate production company.
After eight years, Pete left Pretzel to set up a new company: Hoi Polloi Media. The most significant project for Hoi Polloi was The Wembley Cup, which ran for four years and was created in conjunction with the English FA, EE mobile phones, Google, and Publicis. This show included over 70 YouTube Influencers and Football legends performing stunts and playing football at Wembley. At its peak, it was livestreamed to over 450 thousand viewers.
Today, Pete lives in Brighton with his family. Hoi Polloi has won a number of awards for its work and supported numerous UK charities. Awards include British Arrows, Cannes Lions, and Google YouTube awards.
