Deborah Haywood
After making award winning shorts, Deborah’s debut feature film, PIN CUSHION (2018), starring Lily Newmark (Sex Education), and BAFTA winning Joanna Scanlan (After Love), opened Critic’s Week at Venice International Film Festival. Pin Cushion received 4* reviews worldwide, and was named Critic’s Choice in the New York Times. It was nominated for 3 BIFA’S, a London Critic’s Circle Award, and won several awards on the festival circuit.
In 2018 Harper’s Bazaar named Deborah as one of the Biggest Breakout Female Filmmakers, Screen International selected her as a Star of Tomorrow for Screen International. (2007).
Deborah is a voting member of BAFTA, BIFA, and THE ACADEMY. She is a judge at Wimbledon Short Film Festival and Hebden Bridge Film Festival, and is a judge for the Nicholl Fellowship Screenwriter Award.
She is developing projects with BBC Films, Brock Media, Lowrie Roberts and Maisie Williams, Redbreast Productions, and is casting for her next feature BEAK, with producer Gavin Humphries, which has been developed with the BFI.
