Our MA Screenwriting course is where many of today’s emerging writers are finding their voice. The course combines craft, collaboration, and industry access, and is designed to help writers find their voice and hone it, develop original scripts and stories, and gain the confidence to pitch and produce work for film, TV, and digital platforms.
We thought we’d celebrate some of our graduate success stories and share some of our incredible masterclass guests.
Graduate success stories
Jeremy Ojo, a graduate of the MA Screenwriting course, has gone on to write for Gangs of London, one of Sky’s most talked-about drama series. He’s also been part of the prestigious BBC Writersroom – a testament to both his talent and the practical foundation built during his time at MetFilm School. Jeremy returned to give a masterclass to current students, offering a full-circle moment that spoke volumes about his journey.
Ali Hughes’ writing for ground-breaking web series Dreaming Whilst Black netted the show over 14 web series awards internationally, becoming the #1 voted series in the world 2019. Ali’s feature script, Mignonette won multiple awards and was a London Film Awards finalist.
Then there’s Evangelia Kleidonas, whose script Mileva won the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum – one of the UK’s most prestigious recognitions for new screenwriters. Her success shows how powerful a well-developed script and strong industry support can be in launching a screenwriting career.
Learning from the best, Screenwriting masterclasses
MA Screenwriting students benefit from more than just classroom learning — they gain insight from some of the industry’s most celebrated voices through exclusive masterclasses and guest sessions.
Over the years, the School has welcomed:
Jack Thorne, BAFTA-winning writer of Skins, This is England, and National Treasure, who hosted a 2025 masterclass exploring the emotional architecture of story and character.
Danny Brocklehurst, whose credits include Shameless, The Stranger, and Stay Close, shared his insights into writing for TV dramas with longevity and edge.
Amma Asante, acclaimed director and screenwriter of Belle and A United Kingdom, joined students for a powerful session on voice, representation, and writing with purpose.
