MA Screen Acting grad Dávid Snopek on acting alongside Russell Crowe

By MetFilm School

02 June 2025

Actor and MA Screen Acting graduate Dávid Snopek’s most recent role started with a weighty line, delivered as a Soviet Officer in a tense scene under the direction of Amma Asante, opposite none other than Russell Crowe. While the moment was brief, it marked a powerful milestone in Dávid’s career: proof that his training, focus, and consistency is paying off.

We caught up with Dávid to talk about his experience on the set of Billion Dollar Spy, what he carried with him from MetFilm School, and his advice for actors just starting out.

How did it feel to land your first role in a major international production?

It felt really satisfying. Not in a “huge breakthrough” kind of way, but more like a quiet confirmation that the work is paying off. Just being on set, doing the job, and being trusted with that moment meant a lot. I’m still in the early stages of my journey, but it gave me a sense that I’m moving in the right direction.

And of course, working under Amma Asante’s direction and sharing a scene with Russell Crowe raised the stakes in the best way. Being part of a project of that scale gave me a clear sense of the level I want to keep growing towards.

Can you tell us a bit about the scene and your character?

I played a Soviet officer at a roadblock where the main character is stopped. I tell him to step out of the car and, right after, he’s arrested. It’s a short moment, but one that needed a certain weight. My focus was on carrying that authority without needing to push it, just letting the tension do its work through presence and intention.

What was the biggest thing you took from your time at MetFilm School into that experience on set?

I learned how to show up professionally, not just in performance, but in how you carry yourself on set. We spent a lot of time on camera awareness and finding presence without overdoing it, which really helped me stay relaxed and focused under pressure. When the moment came, I knew how to step in, hit my mark, listen, and do the job.

Was there a particular class, tutor, or moment at MetFilm School that really stuck with you?

More than one moment, it was the overall consistency that stuck with me. Just showing up every day, working on scenes, getting feedback, adjusting. Over time, that builds confidence. You become more at ease in front of the camera, more aware of what you’re doing. It’s not about one big turning point, but all those small moments adding up. That’s what made the difference for me.

What advice would you give to current students hoping to break into the industry?

I’m still at the beginning of this journey, but I’ve learned how important it is to stay consistent and trust the process, even when results aren’t visible right away. It’s about showing up, creating your own opportunities, and giving your best to every role, no matter how small. Success rarely comes all at once. It’s the steady work over time that builds trust in yourself and others.
