Last week, MetFilm School Brighton was buzzing as students, graduates, staff, and industry guests came together for a packed programme of events. From career insights and graduation celebrations to creative showcases, the week offered lots of networking opportunities.
Creative Futures Day at Fabrica Gallery – Monday 9 June
We kicked off the week at Brighton’s Fabrica Gallery with our Creative Futures Day, a careers-focused afternoon designed to connect students with leading industry voices.
First up, we welcomed Ellie Bradley (Head of Studio Services) and Reece Broughton (Studio Production Manager) from Shepperton Studios and the Pinewood Group. They offered a behind-the-scenes look at how studio operations work and what they’re really looking for when hiring new talent.
Following a short refreshment break, we hosted a exciting panel on getting into the industry, featuring:
- Archie Goldsmith – Screenwriter/Producer
- Elettra Pizzi – Producer
- Michelle De Costa – Filmmaker/Director/Producer
The evening wrapped up with a relaxed networking session over pizza, giving students the chance to make valuable new connections in a relaxed setting.
Graduation Screening at Duke of York’s Picturehouse – Tuesday 10 June
Tuesday was all about celebrating our Brighton graduates. Held at the iconic Duke of York’s Picturehouse, the Graduation Screening featured almost 30 original short films across two packed sessions.
Graduates, along with their family and friends, gathered to cheer on the next generation of talent with a red carpet, lots of popcorn, and an electric sense of pride and achievement. The creativity and craft on display were a powerful reflection of our student’s hard work throughout the year.
Student showcase at Fabrica Gallery – Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 June
The celebrations continued mid-week with a two-day exhibition of final-year work from our Undergraduate Production Design, Hair & Make-Up, and Filmmaking students.
Wednesday evening saw a private viewing for staff, students, and special guests. It was a fantastic opportunity to see student projects come to life in an exhibition setting and gather footage for upcoming promotional content.
Thursday welcomed industry guests and the wider public, with students available throughout to talk about their work and ambitions. The exhibition concluded with an industry panel, giving guests insight into the future of creative collaboration and production design.
