Part-Time Filmmaking*

Writer and director Marcus Markou’s debut feature film Papadopoloulos & Sons (2012), starring Game of Thrones’ Stephen Dillane, was entirely distributed by Marcus himself, placing his film amongst the top 5 self-distributed films in the last 15 years. Despite being a self-funded and self-distributed project, the film made waves at the UK box office, achieving the second-highest screen average in its opening weekend. The unique distribution strategy of the film led Marcus to connect directly with community leaders, such as Greek Orthodox priests, to help promote the film. His passion for self-distribution has made him a well-regarded figure in the indie film community.

Marcus has also written and directed a range of short films, including Two Strangers Who Meet Five Times (2017), which won awards at several international film festivals.

Marcus’s latest micro-budget film, The Wife and Her House Husband (2023), is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
