Lily Freeston – Careers Manager, Manager
Lily is a Producer and Careers Manager at MetFilm School Manchester. She’s driven by telling socially engaged stories and widening access to the creative industries. Her approach to career coaching supports self-awareness and confidence-building.
After attending University of the Arts London, Lily trained and worked as an in-house journalist and producer at BBC Digital Current Affairs (UK) and BBC World Service, where she spent several years producing short digital films and long-form radio documentaries for broadcast.
In 2020, Lily won a Fulbright x BAFTA scholarship, which funded her documentary master’s in the US. She later received a BAFTA Pigott scholarship, and her debut independent film — a 16mm documentary short — was an official selection at Aesthetica Film Festival 2022.
Lily has since worked as a freelance producer across branded content, commercials, music videos and more; most recently at Channel 4. She leads the BFI Film Academy at HOME Manchester.
