About MetFilm Futures

We concentrate on employability right from the start, and as a student and graduate of MetFilm School, you get access to our dedicated careers advice department, MetFilm Futures, who focus on supporting you and ensuring you develop the skills needed to succeed in the industry.

Career Surgeries

The Futures team run daily one-to-one career surgeries to advise students on their career planning, CVs, and job search.

Workshops

The Futures team run group Career Development workshops throughout the year to advise students on their career paths and what options are available to them in the creative industries.

Festival Support

The Futures team aims to help and advise all students to navigate the festival circuit and commercial platforms, ensuring cost effective and strategic decisions are made to maximise the opportunities for their films and online content.

Guest Speakers, Masterclasses, and Seminars

Students are invited to guest speaker sessions, Masterclasses, and industry seminars with special guests across all disciplines who discuss their work, current issues, and changes within the screen industries.

Previous guests include Armando Iannucci, Sally Wainwright, Charlie Brooker, Amma Asante, Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar Jones.

Competitions

MetFilm Futures runs film competitions that give students the opportunity to produce content for clients with awarded budgets.

Talent Pool and Jobs Board

MetFilm Futures connects students and graduates with upcoming opportunities including full-time jobs, freelance contracts, internships, and placements. The job boards include jobs exclusively for MetFilm School students, as well as a curated selection from the industry.

Events and Mixers

MetFilm Futures runs a weekly screening programme on Thursday evenings in London and Berlin, giving students an opportunity to get together to watch a curated selection of films together.

The team also run regular networking events to help students connect and collaborate on projects across cohorts, as well as weekly mixers on a Tuesday evening in the Grindhouse café where London students, tutors, and staff can unwind at the end of the day.

Work Experience Opportunities

MetFilm School Kit Room

The Kit Room provides all the kit and lots of technical assistance to our hundreds of student productions. They work with our supplier, Procam Take 2, to ensure the students have what they need to do their best work.

At MetFilm School London, we offer regular three-month internships, a fantastic opportunity for all would-be Cinematographers or Directors of Photography to get real world, paid work experience on their CVs.

MetFilm Production

MetFilm Production, our sister production company, offers 3-4 in-house work experience placements per year for MetFilm School graduates. Selected graduates work in a variety of capacities on all MetFilm Production films, including award-winning productions such as The Reason I Jump and Misha and the Wolves.
