Clearing 2023: A-Level Results Day with MetFilm School

By Elise Czyzowska

15 August 2023

This Thursday, students across the UK will receive their A-Level Results, and many will make their final decisions towards university.

If you’re in this boat and have been considering a film degree, we’re here to give you a brief introduction to MetFilm School, our BA courses, and how you can get in touch with our Admissions Team for Clearing 2023.

Why go to film school?

When people ask, ‘Why should I go to film school?’ they are almost always met with the same response: to find your community and build a network of like-minded, creative individuals.

There are plenty more reasons, too: to experiment and practice your crafts, to hone in on the industry area you are most passionate about, to receive honest, constructive feedback from tutors (who work across the industry)… the list goes on.

Earlier this year, we were proud to hear from a group of our BA graduates how their time at the School had prepared them for entering the industry.

Five BA Content, Media and Film Production graduates joined us at our Ealing Studios campus to share their industry insights and career advice, which you can read here.

That’s the beauty of these courses. They help to eliminate what you don’t want to do, and find what you do.

I never thought I’d want to get into producing, but thanks to the university pushing things like pitching… it really improved my confidence.

Unique opportunities at MetFilm School

Of course, the next decision is where to study – and MetFilm School offers several unique opportunities to our students and graduates.

With four studio locations across three campuses (Ealing Studios and Garden Studios in London, Atelier Gardens in Berlin, and Prime Studios in Leeds), our students are constantly surrounded by their future industry. Every day, walking onto campus, they are inspired by the work going on around them and the future careers they are building for themselves.

Plus, another huge benefit of the School comes in the form of our partnerships and industry connections. You can learn more about our partners here, or read about our dedicated careers advice department, MetFilm Futures.

Through Futures, we have hosted countless inspirational guest speakers in 2023. This includes Triple Crown of Acting winner Geoffrey Rush, The Last of Us director Peter Hoar, and our own MA Directing Graduate (and BAFTA-winning creator of the BBC Three series Dreaming Whilst Black) Adjani Salmon.

Finding the perfect course…

Not sure how to start narrowing down your Clearing options? Here’s a quick introduction to our BA degrees…

BA Content, Media and Film Production:

A well-rounded degree that spans a range of media types and formats, from traditional filmmaking to social media content, advertisements, and more.

The perfect course for those who know they want to work in the industry – but who maybe aren’t quite sure in which area.

BA Film and Screen Business:

Great for those interested in the behind-the-scenes business of the screen industries. Want to lead the marketing team behind the next Barbie-level campaign? Or produce award-winning films? How about getting involved with film distribution, sales, and commissioning?

If you answered yes to any of the above… this is the course for you.

BA Practical Filmmaking:

An all-encompassing degree focused on traditional filmmaking crafts. Try your hand at directing, cinematography, screenwriting… or even find a career in an area you’d never considered.

(You’ll learn precisely the same content on the Two and Three-Year options for this course – the only difference is the length of holidays!)

BA Screen Acting:

The ideal course for aspiring actors, this degree ensures that you understand every aspect of filmmaking, not just what goes on in front of the camera.

Try your hand at filmmaking alongside modules on Screen Acting, and see how the combination enhances your natural skillset.

Visit our Clearing 2023 page to find the course, institution, and campus codes for the above degrees.
