Simon Shore is the MA Directing Programme Leader at Met Film School. He has extensive experience as a writer/director in documentaries, television dramas, feature films and commercials. Simon studied film at the Royal College of Art, where he made several short films, including La Boule, which won a BAFTA Award and was shortlisted for the Student Oscar. His first feature film, Get Real, won audience awards at the Edinburgh, Dinard and Sydney film festivals and was an official selection for Sundance. He has directed television dramas and documentaries for the BBC, Channel 4’s Cutting Edge series, and Carlton Television, winning awards at San Francisco and Chicago film festivals, as well as the Shanghai Television Festival’s Grand Jury Prize.
He has been involved in film education [and mentoring at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels] for 25 years and has a particular interest in short film, having chaired the BAFTA short film jury several times. Simon has been instrumental in developing the directing curriculum at Met Film School over the past seven years.
He is currently shooting a documentary about happiness and a series of improvised short films, while preparing to direct his French language feature script, LA DEMOISELLE HONTEUSE, next year.
