Why MetFilm School? Five reasons why we’re the place to kick-start your future

By Giuseppe Bruni | Categorised in Breaking News, Clearing

Here you can find our top five reasons to study at MetFilm School and kick-start your future in the screen industry…

We’re Practical

You’ve probably guessed it by now, but our courses are highly practical because we believe the best way to learn to make films is to make films.

On our BA (Hons) Practical Filmmaking course you’ll focus on six main productions, which you can complete over two or three years; Fiction, Short Form, Episodic, Factual, Long Form and your final Graduation Project. These productions will teach you every aspect of the filmmaking process from the ground up.

Our students have gone onto jobs as diverse as Producers, Assistant Directors, Camera Editors, VFX Experts, and Campaign Managers on films such as Ready Player One, Bohemian Rhapsody, Solo: A Star Wars Story and many others. Read more about what you could do studying Practical Filmmaking at Ealing Studios.

BA (Hons) Screen Acting has been designed with professionals from behind and in front of the camera to reflect the reality of acting for screen. Through a combination of masterclasses, workshops and self-directed learning, your skills will be applied across a wide range of practical exercises from auditioning, to acting for feature-length productions.

Once you graduate and find your niche as a screen professional, you can go on to study with us on one of our postgraduate courses. Our six specialist MA programmes are each tailored to help you develop and master the craft over the course of one year.

We’re Connected

We’re incredibly proud that all MetFilm tutors are working in or come from the screen industries with a diverse range of festival appearances, awards and nominations, including BAFTA, Emmys and Oscars. This means you’ll be taught by and interact with people who know the film and TV world, inside out.

Emmy-nominated writer, director and producer Justin Trefgarne is the course leader for BA Screen Acting. Justin began his film career working for legendary filmmaker Neil Jordan before joining production house Working Title. His experience spans film, television, advertising and branded content.

BA Practical Filmmaking is led by screenwriter and script consultant Jon Gilbert and director, writer and producer Steve Rehman. Between them, they have more than 30-years’ experience in their fields and are there to nurture your individual talents and skills, and guide you towards your future career.

Also, being based at Ealing Studios provides a few perks for our students.

We’re OfS Registered!

We’re registered with the Office for Students (OfS), an independent regulator of higher education in England. The OfS aims to ensure you have a fulfilling higher education experience, get value for money on your course and that what you study enriches your life and future career.

The OfS exist to ensure you can make informed decisions about where, how and what to study, and that you graduate with the knowledge, qualifications, skills and attributes that require employers.

Being OfS registered means you can access an impartial third party for information on us.

We’re one School, two Campuses

Do you know about our Berlin Campus? Just like London, MetFilm School Berlin is located in a working film studio – BUFA Studios – and all courses are taught in English.

In Berlin, we offer a great range of courses, including 2-year BA Practical Filmmaking, and even some we don’t offer in London such as MA Documentary and Factual and Four-Week Creative Sound.

Berlin is an energetic and exciting city, home to 3.5 million people from around the world and is one of the most inexpensive capital cities in Europe. With every fifth resident being international, it’s a city of great diversity and culture which is reflected in the student body.

If you choose to study the 2-year Practical Filmmaking course in London, you may have the opportunity to take your second year in Berlin. Speak to our Admissions team to find out more.
