MetFilm School Graduates among the Highest Paid in the UK Creative Arts

MetFilm School Graduates are among the highest paid in the UK Creative Arts subject area, according to new data released by the Department of Education.

MetFilm School graduates median salary one year after graduating is £20,300, which is in the top 5 for all UK Universities and Colleges in the Creative Arts & Design subject areas, and tops the chart in the list of alternative (non-university) providers of higher education.

The LEO data (Longitudinal Educational Outcomes) is significant because it reveals information about graduate earnings and employment based on HMRC administrative data, rather than self-reported surveys. This latest dataset is from the tax year 2016/17.

As well as the practical element of all MetFilm School courses, our students are connected to industry from the get-go by being taught by working industry professionals and further by being based in Ealing Studios – a working film studio as well as access to the School’s own in-house production company, MetFilm Production.

MetFilm Production has employed many students and graduates on its productions over the years, with 16 students and graduates working on current production 23 Walks and 13 employed on Swimming With Men, the hit comedy released last summer staring Rob Brydon and Rupert Graves. MetFilm Production also offers five internships per year to MetFilm School students.

MetFilm School students and Alumni are also supported by the School’s dedicated careers advice department, MetFilm Futures, who ensure that students are immersed in the industry and focused on employability right from the start.

The Futures team run weekly, one-to-one career surgeries to advise students on their career paths and have published a comprehensive Careers Guide, available to all students and graduates. They regularly invite guest speakers from industry to give workshops and seminars across all disciplines – recent examples included Bryan Cranston and Jack O’Connell. They also have a Jobs Board connecting students and graduates with upcoming opportunities including full-time jobs, freelance contracts, internships, and placements.
