Producers Lead the Way On MA Industry Projects

As part of our MA courses, which begin every October, MetFilm School offers The Industry Project module, where students from the five specialisms – Producing, Screenwriting, Directing, Cinematography and Post Production – come together to create and deliver films and online videos for an extraordinary range of external clients. Today, our postgraduate students who started in October 2018 screened their newly completed projects for their entire group and tutors.

“The Industry Project provides real-world experience and is a perfect example of MetFilm School’s commitment to bringing industry and education together and encouraging collaboration” Steve Pinhay, Deputy Director, MetFilm School

To date, 180 projects have been delivered to commercial companies, charities and public sector bodies that this year include Fender Guitars, Neon Sheep, Bipolar UK and Siren Craft Brew. Previous companies have included Time Out, Transport for London, The Refugee Council, Mencap, Stonewall UK, DHL, Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen and Palace Skateboards.

“Student employability and understanding of industry soars from the start to the completion of the projects and beyond. Invaluable brand recognition on CVs, dynamic showreel content and the experience of working under the pressures of client and creative demands make this a uniquely valuable component of the students’ learning and future careers.”

Producers lead the Industry Project from start to finish. They find the clients, manage teams of fellow Directing, Screenwriting, Cinematography and Post Production students, oversee all aspects of production and deliver the completed films and videos in fulfilment of the agreed brief.

“Producing students gain enormously from their engagement with this work – they learn about managing clients and crew, the development of an idea into a finished product that must satisfy external, real world needs and have the chance to work on content that ranges from mini-documentaries and mini-dramas to branded content and full-on ads.”
