MA Screenwriting Graduate Discusses Industry Success – Limited March 2016 Spaces Available

By Danny Kelly | Categorised in Alumni Interviews, Student Stories

At the heart of every good film, television series or web series is a strong, effective story. This is why media industries thrive upon imaginative and creative minds, individuals that have the ability to keep audiences in their seats by delivering something compelling, fresh and innovative.

Met Film School’s MA Screenwriting programme teaches students the skillset to deliver distinctive material across a range of platforms, with an emphasis on developing their work into a marketable script that is of an industry standard.  We met one of our past students, Kerry Ann McGregor, to discuss life as a graduate and to find out more about the accolades and recognition that her work has received:

Meet MA Screenwriting graduate – Kerry-Ann McGregor

Part of Met Film School’s philosophy is to create industry-ready graduates who leave with the necessary knowledge, connections and portfolio to successfully embark on their chosen paths.

Kerry-Ann is a sterling example of what can be achieved post-Met, “I left Met Film School with a portfolio of scripts which helped me take my next steps in my screenwriting career. It’s because of this portfolio that things are happening for me today.”

These three scripts were…

A Short Film Script

“I left Met Film School with a short film I wrote for a director. That script went on to win the short film prize at the Shore Scripts Screenwriting Competition and got into Cannes Short Film Corner, plus Rhode Island Film Festival, which is an Oscar-qualifying festival and we are now working on developing a feature film from this as well.”

A Feature Film Script

“I also left with a feature film, which was something the Maltese government wanted me to have. That won a top award at the Breaking Walls Ultimate Thriller Screenplay contest, and at Cannes I pitched the film and I’ve had quite a bit of interest from Canadian producers.”

TV Pilot Script

“I also left Met with a TV pilot, that script went on to win an American Movie Award 2015 and I’ve had interest from a Maltese producer who would like to make it.”

There are still limited spaces available on our upcoming MA Screenwriting programme in October. If you are interested in applying for this course, you can request a prospectus or contact our admissions team by phone on +44 (0)20 8280 9119 or by email.
