Showcasing the work of fresh new filmmaking talent from around the world, “The Bright Young Things Film Club” gives the public an exclusive opportunity to see incredible films that might otherwise not make it into the cinema. Who knows filmmakers, it could be one of your films screened in the future! We love these events because they are taking a fresh approach to the industry, hosting glamorous evenings that have the feeling and the impact of a Hollywood red-carpet premiere, while also being affordable, accessible and fun!
For it’s second event they will be presenting an exclusive screening of Rob and Lisa Fruchtman’s award-winning documentary SWEET DREAMS on Wednesday, April 30th at 18:30 at the Mayfair Hotel. Check out the trailer of the film here.
A New York Times Critics Choice pick, SWEET DREAMS is the story of a remarkable group of Rwandan women who defy the devastation of the genocide to form the country’s first all-female drumming troupe and open the country’s first ice cream shop. Made up of women from both sides of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, the troupe offers a place of support, healing and reconciliation. When the group decides to partner with two young American entrepreneurs, Jennie Dundas and Alexis Miesen of Brooklyn’s Blue Marble Ice Cream, and open Rwanda’s first ever ice cream shop, these remarkable Rwandan women embark on a journey of independence, peace and possibility.
For the film buffs among you, there will be a live Skype Q&A with director Rob Fruchtman and exclusive post-event entertainment. An evening well spent!
