Rendez-Vous with French Cinema

By Cassio | Categorised in Events at Met Film School

London celebrates French Cinema with a series of screenings and events around London.   We’ve rounded up a few films not to be missed as part of this year’s Rendez-Vous with French Cinema!

My Name Is HMMM… (Je m’appelle hmm…)

A film by Agnès Troublé AKA agnès b

Starring Douglas Gordon, Lou-Lélia Demerliac, Sylvie Testud, Jacques Bonnaffé

An 11-year-old runaway, the oldest daughter of three. An absent mother, an abusive father, a grandmother too pure to imagine what is going on. A field trip, the girl disappears… She has found refuge in a truck; an initiatory journey, a chance meeting, new encounters; a wonderful and tragic road movie with a Scottish truck driver “when love just happens”.

Violette

A Film By Martin Provost

Born out of wedlock early in the last century, impoverished and unloved, Violette Leduc meets Simone de Beauvoir in post war Saint-Germaindes-Pres. An intense lifelong relationship develops between the two women authors, based on Violette’s quest for freedom through writing and on Simone’s conviction that she holds in her hands the destiny of an extraordinary writer.

A Q&A event with Director Martin Provost will be held at Curzon Soho on Friday 25 April at 6.15pm. Get tickets here!
