Met Film School Hosts Masterclass with Film Festival Doctor – Rebekah Smith
We were delighted to host a masterclass on ‘How to Achieve Successful Festival Exposure for your Film’ with The Film Festival Doctor aka Rebekah Smith, last week.
Rebekah, who is now working at Met Film School as Consultant on Film Festivals, has over five years film industry experience. In addition to working for Wales’ national horror film festival the Abertoir Horror Festival, she is an Associate Producer (Abertoir Horror Festival promo & Infected forthcoming), P.A./Secretary (including P.A. to Jonnie Oddball during 2005) and film Journalist (Scream magazine, buried.com, fangirltastic.com & sexgoremutants.com).
The workshop provided an introduction to how the film festivals circuit operates as well as offering help towards creating a festival PR campaign and strategy for getting films screened at international festivals. Rebekah discussed the distinction between business and audience festivals, managing a festival budget and completing applications – all fundamental in assisting students to effectively target the key festivals for their films.
