YOUNG ACTORS ACADEMY
- Two-week non-residential course for 14-17-year-olds
- For students who are passionate about acting
- Takes place in Met Film School’s campus at London’s famous Ealing Studios
- Young actors participate in numerous filmed exercises and receive detailed feedback on their performance
- Suitable for complete beginners, no previous experience is required
Young Actors Academy is an intensive non-residential course for 14-17-year-olds who want to experience an intensive immersion in the art of acting and develop the core acting skills over their summer holidays.
- Learn the difference between acting for theatre and acting for film
- Gain confidence in acting through different core acting techniques
- Find out about the technical aspects of film acting and how they can improve a performance
- Come up with valuable tools for the actor to prepare for a screen performance, including how to interpret a script
- Create and develop a character through voice, movement and story
- Learn how to prepare for a shoot
- An introduction to filming equipment
- Slating for camera
- The importance of warming up
- Components to creating a character (Who am I? What do I want? What I do to get what I want?)
- Subtext on screen
- Acting techniques, specifically the Meisner Technique and why it is affective for screen acting
- Breaking down a script
- Understanding hitting marks and continuity on film Voice and Movement
- Audition Technique
- Casting workshop for the Young Filmmakers Academy
- Shooting scenes
- Collaborating with the Director
- Working with students from Young Filmmakers Academy and performing in their films
- Editing seminar/ cutting a showreel
