MetStudios is proud to announce its partnership with Safe in Our World, a leading video games charity dedicated to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing across the industry.
As the first educational institution to join this initiative, MetStudios is committed to eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health and creating a supportive environment for both students and staff. Many of our lecturers are already trained mental health first aiders, and we welcome the opportunity further this support for our students’ wellbeing with Safe in Our World.
Safe in Our World’s mission is to unite all areas of the video games industry, including players, developers, publishers, and retailers, to encourage open conversations that can drive real change. Through this partnership, MetStudios will gain access to Safe in Our World’s extensive library of resources, including training and guides that focus on key mental health challenges such as burnout and imposter syndrome – issues commonly faced in the games industry.
Rosemary Chalmers, Head of School at MetStudios Brighton, shared:
“We’re so excited to be partnering with Safe in Our World at MetStudios. Mental health is something that should be front and centre in everything we do, and our pledge to #LevelUpMentalHealth with support from Safe in Our World will ensure that our environment is safe and supportive for our student and staff mental health at all times. I’m excited to explore this more holistically and push this further by ensuring that students at MetStudios are considering their impact on mental health in the narrative worlds they create through video games.”
This partnership reflects MetStudios’ ongoing commitment to preparing students for careers in the creative industries while ensuring they have the tools to thrive both personally and professionally. By embedding mental health awareness into our culture and curriculum, we aim to empower our students to create games and stories that are mindful of their impact on players and society as a whole.
